This Christian Regency
romance is one of the best contemporary ebooks that I have read. The authoress
stays true to the regency "rules" through out the book. There is instant
attraction to the two main characters with none of the silly hackneyed
expressions that are so common with many Regency writers...

This Christian romance is patterned from the Book of Ruth. The story is very well written and the characters are strong and full of faith. I loved the faith of Lady Georgiana. It is a very good read and I highly recommend it. I was given a copy for an honest review.

This book was about slavery and the abolitionist during the slavery days. I thoroughly enjoyed Jenna and her family. This book had so much in depth history and knowledge incorporated into the story. The author put so much into each of her characters. The pictures and bibliography are amazing. I have read over 450 books this year and this is the most in depth book I have read. I received a copy for an honest review. I would recommend this book to everyone.

A faith inspired, "Jane Austen-ish" mail order bride story... 1875, England Miss Chelsea Careen Stanton is the heiress of Cherrywood Manor and orphaned daughter of a Country Squire. Consequently, she is the ward of relations-- relations who have behaved recklessly, placing her inheritance in great jeopardy. In this tale of social injustice and persecution, Chelsea is faced with few alternatives. Option one--: She can save the only life she has ever known by marrying Lord Thornbridge. Rory, the Earl of Rosevale, offers her security and position, but hasn't a loyal drop of blood in his body. He's a rake; a philandering scoundrel; a rogue of the worst kind! Is it possible to reform a rake?
The other option involves just as much risk and even higher stakes. Chelsea, an avid Jane Austen fan, has been dreaming of a future which includes a loving marriage to someone heroic; like Darcy, of course, with or without a Pemberley. Like Austen, she still believes in true love; with a hopeful heart and a resilient tendency to view everything humorously, honestly, and perceptively. In spite of daunting obstacles, she refuses to do less than see her world, hopes, and dreams without faith; and well, sometimes... through the rose colored glasses of romantic novels. With regard to these traits, some might consider Miss Stanton a tad quirky... and quite the risk taker.
Nonetheless, desperate for a possible way out of what she believes will be a loveless match if she accepts Rory's offer, she responds to an advertisement for a mail order bride to an appealing Irish American clergyman, widowed father, and farmer: a Reverend Braydon McLane. Never mind the fact she can only cook four things, has led a life entirely of privilege, and has no idea what she's about to walk into...
She arrives in America, believing this new situation is an answer to her prayers, only to discover she is in for far more than she bargained. For starters, and among the least of her problems, Braydon McLane doesn't recognize her name... or the letters; never placed an advertisement for a mail order bride; and failed to meet her at the train station. She just added being a homeless foreigner to her already lengthy prayer list.
Rising to the challenges, Chelsea is convinced Elizabeth Bennet, in the same circumstance, would first have tea; followed by a brisk walk in the countryside; and then perhaps, sit down upon her trunks, amidst hat boxes and satchels, and write a heartfelt letter to someone she could trust with her sentiments. Oh wait... is that the sound of rain? Mrs. Bennet would consider rain and this undeniably unique situation, an opportunity for romance from the very gates of Providence! Chin up, Chelsea girl!
Lisa M. Prysock is a writer of Fiction Christian Historical Romance. She is the author of "To Find a Duchess," "The Redemption of Lady Georgiana," "Hannah's Garden: a Turn of the Century Love Story," "Abigail's Melody," and "Protecting Miss Jenna." She enjoys sharing her faith in Christ with readers and gives a portion of the proceeds of her books to missions. A fan of Jane Austen herself, she hopes like minded readers will enjoy this STAND ALONE from 'The Lydia Collection' about a hopelessly romantic, Austen fan and woman of courageous faith. Married to her husband for 18 years, Lisa genuinely believes that in every good husband, there is a Darcy hero in there somewhere.

This review is from: Persecution & Providence (The Lydia Collection Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
My attention was grabbed from the very beginning of the story with the description in contrast of the utterly dark future before this young, sweet woman. Calling on Providence for wisdom she flees the country, crosses the ocean and enters the wilderness of unknowns to follow God's leading to hopefully find her Mr. Darcy.
You will love how Lisa paints her characters, each stroke giving definition, depth and color. So many characters filling the rooms with activity, energy and drawing you into the scenes for interactions on many levels.
I appreciated the insights into both Chelsea and Braydon's internal struggles. I could certainly relate to some of these in my own life.
A very enjoyable read. Treat yourself to Persecution and Providence.
According to my research, the word "ARISE" is found in the King James Version of the Bible approximately 158 times. Jesus frequently used the word "ARISE" throughout His ministry. This devotional/Bible study will examine many of those passages from the words of Jesus... and more.
There have been times in my life when I felt the Lord stir me through His word to "ARISE," to be doing things for the Kingdom of God; even though I didn't always feel qualified, and many times felt downright discouraged. Nonetheless, the Lord gave me courage. One way the Holy Spirit encouraged me was in helping me to frequently remember a favorite sermon preached by someone close to me about the patriarch Joseph. He titled the sermon: "Do the best you can in the worst of places." I never forgot those words. Another way the Lord encouraged me was through a more personal revelation of Jesus and His message to the world... a message of hope, victory, joy, and peace. He graciously made me aware of my need for more of Him, increased my desire for Him, and gave me greater healing, passion and purpose.
This book is my humble attempt to inspire, encourage, and share a few of my personal insights with those who would like to go deeper in their walk with Jesus Christ. Perhaps you need the courage to continue on and rise up to face a challenge... or a particularly difficult circumstance. In whatever situation you find yourself today, may these words richly bless, inspire, comfort, strengthen, and encourage you on your journey as you continue to pursue and walk with the Lord!
